Letter of Secretary General to IPRA council members, conveners, members, conference participants
Dear IPRA council members, conveners, members, friends and colleagues,
The conference is coming up and will take place in less than two months. We look forward to meeting you in Leuven. The Council, the Secretariat General and the conference host team have prepared the overall conference programme which you can find online on www.ipra2008.org. The conveners of the commissions, the main pillars of IPRA, have invited a fine selection of peace researchers to share their findings, discuss the state of conflict and peace in the world and plan the future agenda. It?s also a time to get to know each other better and to strategize about the widening and deepening of peace research and of the global, regional and national associations.
May I ask for your attention to some to do?s before the conference?:
Registration and accommodation: Register for the conference online at www.ipra2008.org. The early registration fee deadline is 1 June 2008. There are still single university student rooms available until 1 June as well. Please make this reservation online. If you have any problems, contact the secretariat at sgipra@soc.kuleuven.be.
Papers: Send your complete papers that you will present at the conference both to IPRA Secretariat and to the appropriate IPRA commission/working group conveners as soon as possible as the deadline has passed (15 May). The papers will be put on a CD Rom and distributed to the conference participants during the conference.
Confirmation: Confirm your attendance at the conference to the appropriate convener(s). This allows us to schedule complete panels and roundtables. The secretariat needs from the IPRA commission and working group conveners their final schedules of panels/roundtables schedule no later than 5 June 2008. This allows us to prepare the conference programme book in time and to check for possible complications.
If you have questions, please write to IPRA Secretariat at sgipra@soc.kuleuven.be or to your commission convener (see www.ipraweb.org).
All the best.
Looking forward to meeting you in Leuven.
